"I was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1918, the son of an RCMP officer. I spent my childhood in Vancouver, B.C., and my youth in Edmonton, Alberta.  In the years I was in Edmonton, I became a Christian and joined a Baptist Church. I also felt called to the Baptist ministry and got married.  I served as student pastor of two churches while I studied for my B.C. degree in the university of Alberta.

Then we travelled to Hamilton, Ontario, where is studied theology at McMaster University and served as Pastor's Assistant at James Street Baptist Church. When I graduated from McMaster, I was called to become pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, where I served for four years. Then I was called by the Baptist Union of Western Canada to become the first principal of the new Baptist Leadership Training School, which was to be established in Calgary. For 22 years we worked, together with many others, to help almost a thousand young people to better understand and live their Christian faith. Then, in 1971, I was called to become General Secretary of the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec.

We moved east to Oakville, and joined Central Baptist Church. My office was in Toronto, so I commuted each day until I retired. One aspect of this work was the opportunity to visit many countries of the world, including Africa, China and India. However, of these three forms of ministry, the one I enjoyed the most was the exciting work with the young people at BLTS. I will always thank God for the opportunity to know and to serve those fine young people."
